Common Mistakes That Start-Up Businesses Make

Category:Uncategorized

No business plan

Lack of preparation always leads to failure. Create a realistic and achievable business plan. It would be best to consult an online business mentor before creating a business plan as they will be able to guide you as you think through all the issues involved. Advice from a trusted internet business expert will also help you identify the areas in which you need some further training in order to succeed.

Lack of Market Research

In reality, not all customers will buy a particular product no matter how enticing its advertising campaign appears to be. Customer targeting is important in any marketing campaign. Knowing your target audience and segmenting them will help you to tailor your message to the needs of your market.

Insufficient Capital

Many new business owners neglect the importance of having sufficient capital to stay in business. If you want to survive during the first few months of your business, when realistically you will not have a high level of income, it is necessary to set aside enough cash to meet all your operational and living expenses.

Excessive Spending

Many budding entrepreneurs make the mistake of spending when money starts to come in. They are tempted to buy luxurious cars, expensive houses, naturally excited that finally they have “achieved the dream”. However there are no guarantees that income levels will continue improving regularly, and so this is not the time to take risks. Every experienced business owner understands that business building costs can be quite expensive, so early success should be considered a financial foundation for building towards greater success. It’s important to spend modestly as you build a sustainable business.

Hiring the wrong people

Your employees should be chosen because you recognize that they have skills or strengths that will help your business move forward. There is no fool-proof process for hiring the right people, especially when you have a limited budget. Start by recognizing your personal strengths and weaknesses in business. What skills and strengths does your business ideally need to move forward successfully? List these, then put them in order of importance. This will indicate to you the skills and personality traits you need to be looking for in your employers.

Poor Management

This element ranks high among the reasons for the failure of many small online businesses. It may cover anything from the lack of ability to manage people, financial aspects, marketing or customer management. Many governments offer free support for small business, so seek this assistance in your local area.

Five Tips to Help You Lighten Up

Almost all of us want to constantly adjust our weight. A handful of us are happy with our weight, others need to gain a few pounds. The rest of us “battle the bulge” almost constantly. No matter what your weight goals are, here I provide some important weight loss tips and tricks to help you achieve your ideal weight more faster.

Eating more calories than your body needs to perform it’s daily functions, means that the extra calories will be stored as fat. If you do not eat sufficient calories to satisfy your bodies energy needs then your body will make make up the difference by taking what it needs from the stored fat in your system.

Understand that every 3500 calories of unused energy stored by your body, is stored in the form of fat. So in order to lose one pound of fat you would have to create an energy deficit of 3500 calories by either reducing your intake or increasing your exercise level to burn up the 3500 calories. Keep in mind that it is not safe to lose more than 2 pounds per week.

It can be refreshing to know that walking an extra mile every day will burn up 100 extra calories per day. Walking one mile uses up approximately 100grams of energy (the exact amount depends on your body weight)

People who are overweight spend more energy in moving about than those who are at their ideal weight. It stands to reason that the heavier you are determines the amount of energy required to move. If you use calorific charts, always check to see what body weight is being referred to.

Sometimes breaking things down into simple day-to-day terms can make all the difference; Any food or drink that contains about 100 calories, a soft drink or an extra slice of bread per day will add up to 10 extra pounds in one year if your exercise level is not increased.

One thing is certain. Most people do not get enough exercise in their ordinary daily routines. If you are already over your ideal body weight get a check up before starting a diet or exercise routine.

A Powerful Bonding & Healing Technique

How to Join -Take two comfortable chairs and place them so you can sit close to and facing your Joining partner. Make sure you are comfortable and relaxed. Playing some relaxing or emotionally meaningful music will also help. You can gently hold hands if you like. Now make eye contact with the other person and try to maintain it for as long as you can. You can blink as normal – the intention is not to stare, but to naturally look into the other person’s eyes for an extended period of time. Try to Join for at least twenty minutes. You may find it easier to focus on just one eye – whichever is most comfortable and gives you the deepest contact.

At first, most people find it hard to maintain sustained eye contact. In social settings making too much eye contact can appear threatening, but here we are deliberately allowing ourselves to maintain the contact as long as we wish. You may feel embarrassed or awkward or you may find it hard to remain serious and have a strong urge to talk. It is possible that you feel disturbed by this level of intimacy and want to end the Joining.

The resistance you may be feeling comes from the fear of emotional intimacy. We are not used to allowing ourselves to get this emotionally close to other people. With such strong eye contact, it feels as if the other person can see right into the heart of our being. We fear that they will know us too well, including all our secrets and any low self-worth. These are aspects of ourselves that we have tried to hide, so we may now be reluctant to reveal them. But remember that it is our low self-worth that causes us to keep ourselves separate in relationships and prevents us from healing our issues. Although Joining can be difficult at first, the process is intended to unearth our resistance to wholehearted connection with another person and then burn through it to find the love and self-esteem that lies underneath.

If you persevere with Joining, a number of interesting things will usually happen. You should start feeling some emotion – it could be positive or negative. Try not to judge or control the emotion, just let it flow naturally. The emotion is welling up from your subconscious as well as your deeper unconscious mind. You may feel anger, sadness, loss or other negative emotions. You may cry – don’t judge this, just let it happen without resistance. Keep feeling into these emotions as you maintain the eye contact. It is likely that you and your partner will mirror each other’s emotions. Look into their eyes and imagine that you are seeing right into their emotions. What are they feeling? Feel love and appreciation for the other person and pour this into them. If you find this hard, imagine they are somebody you love dearly, such as a child or a parent. As you feel the love for them and transfer it to your Joining partner through their eyes, they will feel it and respond. See all the love within them. If you have a spiritual belief, see divine love or God in their eyes. The love will then melt away pain and any separation.

Why We Have a False Perception of Integrity

Category:health care | Uncategorized

When used to describe a person integrity becomes very subjective, in the sense that integrity in a person is directly related to who they are and what they value. As such, everyone can have a different version of what integrity means to them personally. The difference in perception of integrity being objective vs. subjective is paramount and is one of the reasons that integrity is severely lacking today. Integrity is much more who you are, than something you have. This is one of the reasons why I am working to re-introduce the word integrious as the adjective of integrity.

In examining this quote a little deeper, I have found a few other implications that might affect our perception of integrity.

This quote seems to imply that integrity is a black or white distinction, 0 or 100%. It is important to note that in a theoretical sense, integrity can be an absolute. Not as it applies to a person, but as it applies to an act in a single instance. It is pretty easy to deem a single action as integrious, such as when someone picks up money that was dropped and returns it to the rightful owner. But a person, their life, and their thousands upon thousands of actions cannot be summed up to an absolute ye or ne when it comes to integrity. Integrity as it applies to humanity is of course a relative attribute. Everyone has some degree of integrity.

No one is completely integrious, just as no one is completely unintegrious. Integrity is something one can learn, develop and strengthen over time. My experience is that it works this way more often than not. Life experience tends to be the best teacher of integrity. To some degree we all start out with a pure form of integrity as babies and small kids, then we start to lose it as certain influences, conditioning and events shape our minds and hearts growing up, and it is inevitable that we will grow apart from our purest and true self. This can happen in the teenage and young adult years and you see a lot of people that are able to finally reconnect with later in life.

Extracting a third component of implication from this quote is that integrity in a person can be judged by another. This is a dangerous connotation, as integrity is not and should not be a methodology for judging others. I believe that integrity has a lot to do with the relationship one has with oneself, and also an open mind and respect for other people’s values and beliefs. Granted, that again we know there are certain absolutes in a single act, but judging a person’s overall character is speculation at best. This quote, if taken too literally, can lend itself to a person that can falsely judge others and become arrogant. As you can imagine, the person who believes this quote may believe themselves to be inherently integrious and therefore might act in blindness to reality and truth because they have convinced themselves that whatever they do will be right and integrious.

Steps to Starting a Small Business

Category:Uncategorized

The very first step, for most, is the idea. Whether your small business will be a completely new and innovative venture, or a franchise, you still have to have the idea to start it before anything else can happen.

Next, usually, there is a period of weighing the pros and cons. This is a critical step, as it allows you to decide whether you are truly passionate about your business, and if you are, gives you the reason to carry on with what is sometimes an arduous process.

The next step in starting a small business is to learn. Even if you know the business you are starting intimately as an employee, there is still a lot to learn about running a business, and it is usually a good idea to get some sort of training.

Next, as you are working through the steps to starting a small business, you will have to craft a business plan. This need not be a complicated or difficult to create document, but it helps you to collect your thoughts, and get them all on paper, so that you have a clear plan to get from where you are now, to where you want to be. It also helps you to figure out how much money you will need to start your business, and during the first months of your start up phase, when you are unlikely to be earning a large amount.

This brings us to the next of the steps in starting a small business – finding funding. Unless you have the money to invest in your business yourself, you will have to find financing somewhere, whether it is a bank loan or an angel investor who funds your start up.

There are several other things you will have to do before you can open your small business’s doors. You will need to legally register the business, if you need to. You will need bank accounts and other administrative registrations and facilities. You will need to find premises if you need them, and secure deals with your suppliers. You will also need to register for tax, and if you are going to need to have specific permits, you will need to apply for them. Then there are things like interviewing and hiring staff, if you will need them, buying furniture and equipment, setting up your company website and developing marketing materials.
